Fibroscan

Your liver is a vital organ. The liver serves as the body’s filter and warehouse, with more than 1.5 quarts of blood pumping through it every minute. This allows the liver to effectively remove toxins and waste products from the blood stream.

SDG is proud to now offer patients FibroScan, a examination that non-invasively measures liver stiffness by capturing and calculating the speed of a shear wave as it travels through the liver. This detection of stiffness may be used as an aid to clinical management of liver disease.

FibroScan is a quick, in-office outpatient examination that delivers immediate results. During the scan, you will feel a slight vibration on the skin at the tip of the probe. Learn more about FibroScan by watching this video.

To schedule the FibroScan procedure, a referral must be obtained from your primary care physician prior to scheduling. An SDG provider can also order FibroScan. Once we have received the referral from your physician our office will contact you to schedule the test.

FibroScan is performed at our South Denver (Swedish) clinic - 499 E. Hampden Ave., Suite 420 Englewood, CO.

The prep for FibroScan: Nothing to eat or drink three hours prior, including water. No gum chewing or smoking. Wear comfortable clothes that will allow access to the right side of your rib cage.
