News from Dr. Roman

After more than 25 years of caring for patients at South Denver Gastroenterology, I have made the decision to retire from clinical practice, effective January 1, 2027. Writing this letter is one of the most meaningful and bittersweet things I have done in my career. It has been a genuine privilege to be your gastroenterologist, and I do not take lightly the trust you have placed in me over the years.

Being a physician often brings me into people’s lives at important moments — a concerning symptom, a diagnosis, a procedure. I have been grateful to be present at those moments, and to have navigated them together with so many of you. Those relationships are what I will carry with me longest.

I want you to know that your care is in good hands. South Denver Gastroenterology remains a strong, independent practice, and my colleagues, physicians and advanced practice providers alike, are outstanding clinicians.

What Happens Next

After my retirement, you will continue your care with another SDG physician. I will, in some cases, specify follow up with a specific SDG physician. If you see one of our advanced practice providers as well, that relationship will be preserved without interruption.

I will continue to see patients through the end of 2026, so there is no urgency. If you have a scheduled appointment or an upcoming procedure, please keep it. Nothing changes in the near term. I am looking forward to engaging many of you before I go.

Practicing medicine at SDG has shaped who I am. Thank you, sincerely, for the confidence you placed in me, and for letting me be part of your health and your life. It has been a profound privilege, and I leave it with a full heart.

Patient Care Philosophy

Since I entered medical school, I have pursued my personal mission to care for patients, their families and their loved ones. I endeavor to deliver the best outcomes for my patients that support both their health and well-being. To treat the whole person. My philosophy is that physicians and patients should work together as a team. Patients need to be listened to, have clear explanations about their conditions, be treated with concern, compassion and respect, have trust in their care teams, and contribute to informed decision-making. I hope to exceed expectations at every opportunity.
