What is WATS3D Barrett’s Screening?
Barrett’s esophagus is a condition in which the pink, flat lining of the esophagus becomes damaged by acid reflux, causing the lining to become red and thickened. This can lead to an increased risk of developing esophageal cancer. Because of this, it is recommended that those with Barrett’s esophagus or long-standing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms be screened for cancer every 3-5 years.
The WATS3D platform is an effective option to help prevent esophageal cancer in those with Barrett’s esophagus. By utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D imaging, doctors can obtain more accurate results than the traditional forceps biopsy technique to catch cancer earlier.
How is WATS3D Barrett’s Screening Performed?
The WATS3D system involves the use of brush sampling, which takes samples of cells from the esophagus. This, combined with 3D computer analysis helps to identify abnormal cells for prompt treatment.
