2015 CCFA Distinction Award Honoree

South Denver Gastroenterology is proud to announce that Dr. Matthew Nichols is being honored on Wednesday, September 30 with the CCFA Healthcare Distinction Award. Dr. Nichols has been a champion for IBD patients throughout his career and this is a well-deserved honor. Dr. Nichols is the facilitator of the South Metro Denver CCFA Support Group, which meets monthly in one of the South Denver Gastroenterology offices. Having started this process in 2007, Dr. Nichols has only missed 3 of the monthly meetings in an 8 year time period, a testament to his commitment and dedication, and the special place he holds in his heart for patients. At South Denver Gastroenterology, we are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of nurses and providers who care deeply for our patients. Dr. Nichols has been inspirational to our IBD team in promoting the highest level of care and service, and establishing our practice as a trusted source for our IBD patients to turn to for their care. His unique ability to connect with patients, support them through challenging illnesses, and buoy spirits has had a vital impact on so many. Dr. Nichols’ patients, and their families, appreciate his generosity and personal sacrifice to ensure their comfort and well being.
Congratulations to Dr. Nichols on this achievement!

Dr Pete Baker Tribute

It's an honor and privilege to pay tribute to Dr Pete Baker. As one of the founders of South Denver Gastroenterology, Dr. Baker helped create the passionate, special practice that it is today. In 1972, Dr. Baker formed South Denver Gatroenterology with Dr. Katz and Dr. Butterfield. Dr John Sabel joined as a fourth physician a couple of years later.
After his retirement from South Denver Gastroenterology, Dr. Baker started a widely popular and successful Medical Careers class at Chaparral High School and also Cherry Creek High School. This gave Dr. Baker the opportunity to share his passion for medicine with young minds and also help them learn about the profession. This is another lasting legacy in the life of Dr. Baker. His devotion and gift of caring for others truly makes him a role model for physicians practicing now and those who have dreams of becoming doctors in the future. Dr. Baker will always be remembered at South Denver Gastroenterology, by the hearts he touched as a physician, partner and teacher.
