The Crohn’s and Colitis Program Mission:

The Crohn's and Colitis Program at SDG is designed to provide patients with easy access and early treatment for the management of symptoms, complications or problems associated with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis. We are devoted to the sensitivity needed to assist, support and care for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Overview:

The IBD Team at SDG includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants dedicated to providing the very best care to patients that live with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis also known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD.

Crohn’s disease is a type of IBD. Symptoms include inflammation in the digestive tract, belly pain and cramps, diarrhea, weight loss and rectal bleeding. Inflammation from Crohn’s disease can make it hard to take in nutrients during digestion. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic, or long lasting, disease that causes inflammation—irritation or swelling—and sores called ulcers on the inner lining of the large intestine.

Our board certified physicians have more than 50 years combined clinical expertise in managing this complex, potentially debilitating and life changing disease. Because IBD can have times of remission and times of flare-ups, consistent management of the disease is critical. We work closely with other health care providers, such as pain management specialists, primary care physicians, obstetricians, rheumatologists, dermatologists, infectious disease specialists, ostomy nurses, surgeons and others to help patients access needed care during the course of this chronic illness.

The nursing staff that assists your SDG physician and provides your care during prescribed medical treatments or flare-ups have many years of nursing experience and are available to assist you with any concerns. Our nurses have been working exclusively with Crohns and Colitis patients at SDG for many years, overseeing the infusion center and assisting with clinical trials. They act as a resource and liaison between patients, families and your physician.

Our entire team is committed to the development of an outstanding Crohn's and Colitis Program in Denver and Colorado. We thank you for trusting us with your care and welcome your input and feedback.
