Crohn's & Colitis Foundation (CCFA)

South Denver Gastroenterology is an active supporter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).  In addition to their commitment to patient care within the practice, our physicians devote a valuable amount of their time to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of CCFA. Dr. Fernando Carreira, Dr. Matthew Nichols, Dr Lisa Mathew and Dr. Cary Patt serve on the Chapter Medical Advisory Committee or CMAC, which provides professional insight for chapter education, support, and advocacy activities in accordance with the CCFA Strategic Plan and Patient & Professional Services Initiatives.
Dr. Matthew Nichols is also the facilitator for the South Metro CCFA Support Group since 2007.  These gatherings are designed to be a forum where questions from individuals living with Crohns and Colitis can be asked and answered in an open and relaxed environment.  A variety of topics are discussed each month including medications, nutrition, alternative therapies and emerging therapies.  The support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month.  For more information on the CCFA and support groups, please visit:
